Слово имеет корни от латинского «bilnax» — «из двух чаш», что означало равновесие. Из латыни слово перешло во французский язык, где balance означает «весы». А вот от Французев, Русские дворяне в XVIII веке переняли в обиход. В настоящее время символом баланса, являются весы.

Валюта — обычно распространяется на иностранные деньги. Однако экономические словари, термин валюта трактуется как любая разновидность денег, которые ходят в обращении. Энциклопедия Брокгауза и Ефрона упоминается бухгалтерская отметка «Valuta per» — срок течения процентов по внесенной суме.

Слово пришло из латыни valere означало «стоить, иметь возможность, быть сильным».

Еще одно один термин «Валюта баланса» — итог баланса (отчетной формы).
